Latest Book Haul

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

Sometimes, I really cannot help myself when it comes to buying books. If I’ve had a bad day I’m like right, I need to treat myself to a new book, if I’ve had a good day I’m like right, lets treat myself to a new book and so on and so on.

I keep seeing this series all over insta (please don’t be surprised if all of the books I buy are ones I’ve seen on insta, I’m very easily influenced ok). I picked up Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff despite the fact I’ve not even not even read the first two books, I keep seeing how the Waterstones hardback versions of Nevernight and Godsgrave are out of stock and go for a pretty penny on the likes of eBay, etc. So I figured I’d be best of buying it now whilst I actually have the chance to.

Now this one is a library book but I’ve been loving Neal Schusterman ever since reading The Scythe, hands up if you can’t wait to read The Toll? (The Toll has now been released and I LOVED IT) Anyway I saw Dry in the library and figured why not! I’m over halfway through this book and omg, DO NOT READ WITHOUT A GLASS OF WATER NEARBY! It’s really got me thinking about what would happen if we really did run out of water/other important resource and how screwed I’d probably be, water is really all I drink so the thought of not having water does NOT bode well with me.

I love my Amazon Fire tablet but boy have I got to stop spending on kindle books, it is far too easy to purchase books! Especially when they’re only 99p or £1.99 and bam, they appear instantly! Well I purchased A Throne of Swans by Katherine and Elizbeth Corr and I’m intrigued.

Another book I’ve picked up lately is Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco and I’m gutted this is the last book in the series. This series is one of the best series I’ve ever read, it’s just so interesting and I love the historical settings. Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell are probably in my top five favourite fictional couples!

I picked up another library book called The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, I’ve been seeing this book all over Bookstagram and decided it was time to finally read it. It is a CHUNKY book but Samantha Shannon actually put on Twitter that the book has six parts and when you break it down into six parts it’s a little less scary. I’ve done that and then split the section into three so hopefully that will make it a little easier to read. Also can we talk about the cover because it is STUNNING.

I also picked up another book by Samantha Shannon the hardback version of The Bone Season for a pound. I’ve noticed that this is also another popular book I’ve yet to read so when I saw it for £1 I couldn’t resist. I’m only about 60 pages in but I’m liking it so far, the plot sounds really interesting and unlike anything I’ve ever read so I’m intrigued.
