What I’ve Been Loving Lately

crescent city bookmark

I figured it was high time I do another of these posts, you can check out my past obsessions here and see if anythings actually changed haha.

TV shows

Lately I’ve been very into Netflix and I’ve managed to binge watch two series in the past couple of weeks, The Stranger has been the first series in a long time to truly grip me! It’s based on a book by Harlan Coben and I think I’ll actually have to start reading his books because I LOVED his other shows on Netflix called Safe and The Five. If you like thrillers set in a seemingly idyllic English town then you’ll enjoy these shows.

Locke and Key. What can I say. It’s SO GOOD, a really interesting and unique show, also based off a comic book. I watched it with my younger sisters and they also loved it, a few scenes where a little touch and go for a younger audience but not as scary as I thought it was going to be! If you’re into shows like Stranger Things I think you’ll love this show, it’s definitely deserving of more hype.

I’ve literally just finished October Faction and I’m already hoping/praying for a season 2! This is another show based off a comic book (guess I better start reading comics!) Fred and Deloris Allen are undercover monster hunters constantly moving their twin teenagers; Geoff and Viv around the world killing monsters under the guise of their “day jobs”. There’s plenty of twists and turns with an enjoyable pace and plenty of action. I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would!

Artwork/Fan art

One of my favourite things about Bookstagram is finding all the incredible artists on there, I love finding beautiful artwork of characters and quotes, etc from my favourite books, so much so I’ve decided it’s time to start purchasing more artwork.

I’ve also been buying these incredible foil prints from JessType on Etsy, be quick though as she’s closing her shop up soon for good! I have these incredibly beautiful quotes from A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass and Lord of the Rings. I’m moving out in a couple of months so can’t wait to frame them and decorate my new place with them.

Never did I imagine in my adult years I’d be typing about how much I’m obsessed with bookmarks but here we are! As I get more into bookstagram I find myself drawn to the more bookish “accessories” such as pins and bookmarks. I’ve managed to build up quite the collection of bookmarks.

I love the ones included in the Fairyloot subscription box but lately my favourite ones at the moment are from Jana Runneck. I ADORE her work and I also have a few prints from her which she included with the A Court of Thorns and Roses calendar which is stunning!

Another Etsy favourite of mine is JessicaJadeDesigns. JessicaJadeDesigns has such a big range of bookmarks for all the different fandoms out there, predominately those in the YA sphere, they’re also really affordable which is a plus, especially considering a gal can never have too many!

I’ve got two new facemask obsessions. One of my favourite non-bookish influencers is Marianna Hewitt who is one of the co founders of the beauty brand Summer Fridays and responsible for one of my new favourite facemasks. I’m talking about the Jet Lag mask, an instagrammers staple.

Crafted from green, vegan ingredients, this unbelievable hydrating mask transforms skin, whether you’re a time zone-hopping jetsetter or just having a night in. Thanks to a nourishing combination of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and gently exfoliating extracts, this soothing formula leaves your complexion uber-dewy, radiant and ready for anything.

I typically use it as an overnight mask/night cream but I love it, it can be used as a really hydrating moisturiser and also a primer. It’s kinda a multi use mask which helps to soften the blow of the price haha, but it’s definitely deserving of the hype!

My othe fav is the Rescue Mask by Eve Lom, another mask I’ve seen all over the likes of Insta and Youtube. This is another pricey mask so I was clearly feeling quite bouji when I bought these.

This hard working mask helps to purge your skin of impurities and restore harmony. Eve Lom’s clay-based Rescue Mask contains Camphor to unclog pores and decongest; Almond oil to tackle hyper-pigmentation and Honey to smooth and condition. Your skin’s equivalent to a knight in shining armour, this mask will tackle its trio of wicked avengers: blemishes, redness and puffiness, before whisking you off to complexion heaven!

Rescue mask is deffo one of the better clay masks I’ve tried, it’s not too drying nor do you have to scrub half your skin off when trying to remove it. It’s pricey but worth it so far!
